PUPPIES!!! 2 Questions.....please help...advice needed.?

Okay, I have TEN pit bull puppies. They are beautiful, playful, and MESSY! They are about 3 weeks old and beginning to run where ever their little legs will go. So that means they squat where ever they are when nature calls. My first question is: How do I keep them from using the bathroom in their bed so that I can keep them and their comfort zone clean and less stinky. Second question: How soon to potty train and what is the best way to do that. I have them all in my kitchen now so that it is easier to mop and clean after them. But it is alittle frustrating and not to mention...stinky! Your advice is greatly appreciated!PUPPIES!!! 2 Questions.....please help...advice needed.?
We have been showing and breeding pit and stafforshire terriers for several years and I am also a vet tech. First congrats on the litter of 10. But this is only the begining of the messy part. : ) Pit moms usually stop feeding their pups around 4 weeks. Due to the fact that they will have sharp teeth. Also with 10 she wont have enough milk to keep them all well nourished. Then you have to start them on rice cereal mixed with canned puppy food. Then slowly, as they learn to eat, change to all canned, then to kibble that has been soaked in water, then make it dryer and dryer until they are eating all dry kibble. The best way to keep them clean is to build a large box out of plywood and use pine shavings as bedding. Dimentions for 10 pups should be 3 feet high and atl east 5X5. It smells good and is easy to clean. It keeps them safe and you sane. You could use newspapper that has been shredded or even hay. We find the shavings the easiest to use and not expensive. They do not need blankets that have to be washed. The shavings are soft enough. They are going to get big in a very short amount of time and trying to confine them to an area like your kitchen is going to become impossible. As far as potty training, you could start taking them outside as a group at about 6 weeks. This is just preliminary work. It takes puppys 6 months to to able to reliably ';hold it';. The body has to mature and the muscles that contol the bowls and the bladder take time to strenthen.10 pups at 6 weeks old are faster than you think and letting them out even in smaller groups is challenging. If you are going to find them homes at 8 weeks old, let the new parents start training at that time. They are still babys and wont really understand what you are asking of them. They will have to go potty a few minutes after they are done eating and getting them ALL outside, without them messing along the way to the door, I could only wish you luck! haha

Enjoy your pups!PUPPIES!!! 2 Questions.....please help...advice needed.?
Stay by them and whenever it looks like they're going to go, pick them up and set them on newspaper away from the bed. Pit bulls are smart, so they will catch on and soon enough. After they catch on do the same but move them outside, and if you can't be home, gradually move the newspaper towards the door and then outside. They will know whats going on. Good luck!
Your not going to be able to train them at 3 weeks old, they will use the bed for awhile yet, you just have to have extra bedding to change out, and wash or throw away each day. I used old clean towels with my animals, as bedding, and then threw it out after they messed on it. The best way to train them when they are ready, is by alowing them to watch mom, or other dogs go outside, for a pitbull pup newspaper is sort of a waste of effort if you know what I mean. And also be mindfull of what your giving them, I can imagen them eating solid food at that age, but after about 6 weeks they should start, and asap like another few weeks or so try adding in small crumbles of dry food to wean them away from the bolo which just makes them go more often.
get this stuff called urine gone , pee pads and watch to see if they're going in circles or sniffing a lot that means they have to go and if you see the about to go grab a pee pad , paper anything close put it on their bottom , take them outside or on a pee pad so they know that is where they're suppose to go and puppies never pee or poop where they sleep ... potty train them ASAP and good luck ... i'm still trying
I went to a farm and home store and bought a roll of fencing, 3 ft tall, made a circle out of it, put shredded news paper in it. That way they can move around and still be confind to one area. Make 2 circles one for outside and in.
dogs by nature won't poop/pee where the sleep or eat. Don't allow them to large of an area to roam around in. After they eat or drink, take them out to where you want them to poop and they should be okay.
Try and confine the puppies in a Pen. Give them a bed of Fleece in one half and line the other half with newspaper. They will soon start to go on the newspaper and this can be frequently changed as they soil it.

I've seen puppies as young as ten days crawl away from their beds to go to the toilet on the newspaper because they never like to soil their sleeping quarters.

This is the start of their housetraining and it will save you a lot of work believe me.

At three weeks old my puppies are still in their whelping box and a mesh puppy pen extension with a gate so that the Dam has easy access to them if she needs to visit them. She will still be producing milk and topping them up even if you have started to wean them already and she mustn't be denied access to her puppies. She'll soon tell them to back off as her milk decreases.

At 4/5 weeks they go outside in a Pen during the day where they can run and play together. They come back indoors in the evening. If you can give them a Pen with a small patch of grass in there this helps to train them to go to the toilet on the grass. They will need a bed out there in the shade if they want to sleep. during the day.

Good luck with your puppies.
my dog had 9 puppies that left surprises everywhere. so we kept them in the kitchen or in a fenced area in my backyard

( if its a nice day) or leave newspaper on the ground if u keep them in the kitchen watch them, and when they look like they're going to go put them on the newspaper. ( pitbulls are smart dogs they'll catch on.)
pitballs r quite smart they aint fick dogs so i suggest u put paper where u want them 2 go a toilet and when they get a tiny bit older start taking them outside every nownen and hopefullly itll work, gd luck
It's never to early to house train. Get puppy pads from the store, they have a smell on them that attracts the puppies to use them and not their bedding. When they do use them give lots of praise and petting. If you have some where you can put them out side that they can run and be safe do that for a little while each day, early morning or late evenings are the best times.
give them a larger area in the kitchen to go potty
Try having a raised bed for them to sleep on, and the rest of the area with newspapers for peeing. It'll be easier to keep them from peeing on one area if it's raised and seems different to them. And easier for you to scoop them off the bed if they start to pee!

Try putting them in an exercise pen outside. That way they will get used to going outside... and nowhere they pee can be wrong!
