Help! need advice?

I want to have a career in wedding planning but dont know where to start.

anyone got any ideas on where i can find out what qulifications i will need, if any, and how to get the ball rolling?Help! need advice?
Start by thinking about what a wedding planner does. A wedding planner takes care of the details and offers creative ideas to make the day memorable. Are you familiar with every potential wedding location in you area. No? Then start researching them. Start a folder with different reception theme ideas and details on how you would create the theme affordable. You want to have as much knowledge of weddings in your area as you can so when you apply to wedding planning firms with no experience you will have impress them that you can list every reception hall in the area and maybe a couple potential sites they hadn't thought of.Help! need advice?
creativity and ideas apart from interest in cultures and religions
IM ABOUT TO GET MARIED. CAN U PLAN IT? ITS A SURE START...
Having a degree in design and fine arts might help since weddings nowadays just fuss over what color or pattern, of all things, the veil! Also being good in human relations will be an asset, since you're going to be working with a client/s.
go to a bridal show. Or go into one of the bridal stores and see if they can help.
Fantastic. I never heard such plannig course anywhere, u can start this as Councellor in Wedding Planning. This will attract more customers but u should have first hand informations of atleast yr country like wedding halls, its cost, catering aread to accomodate number of people can attend, quality of food, depend upon payment capacity of party who is planning, hotel details with facilities, cost and booking facilities attached to your office and other site seeing destination of yr country and world. Definitely, it will be facinating Councelling Job. Further information please contact me on my email id patadiakm@yahoo.com. I would also like to join u.
The best advice that I can give would be to apply to local hotels and venues as a trainee event organiser, this will give good experience in organisation and what would be expected. Once that you have this, then you can go self employed in the future.
Why don't you just go to one and ask them. You know too, you could just volunteer to help with no pay, and could learn some stuff that way. Also, you could experience first hand what all you do, and before you invest in money for any kind of schooling, you would ge able to decide if you really liked it as much as you thought you would like it. Good luck.
watch the wedding planner movie
Do some publicity at the office of your local registrar of marriages. This will give you the lead for your plan/s.
My first guess would be to investigate local courses specialising in the Hospitality industry or even catering. Possibly a small business management course would also be of help. Check local Universities or Colledges to see what is available.

If you cant find anything suitable try finding someone who already does the same thing but in an area far enough away from you so that they wont mind offering advice. If they think you are going to start up right ';next door'; they may not be willing to help.
Answer some ads in the paper for anyone who might need help doing wedding planning. Offer to do the job for free, that way you'll get your foot in the door. And if you work hard enough, they'll pay you something anyway.
