Marine Corps Birthday Ball?! Any advice or help from people who have been. Thanks.?

This will be my first time attending a marine corps ball (also, my marine's too) Im very nervous but excited at the same time. I had a really hard time finding a dress but i found a decent one. Its a strapless red dress thats floor length. It looks good. I just wanna make sure its okay. Im also not a heel girl so would it be okay to wear an inch heel? Just make sure you can sit down in it for dinner and you are ok on the dance floor. You are going to see the gambit of dresses. Have loads of fun. There will more men than woman and many retired marines love to celebrate{drink} at this functions.
as long as you are comfortable wearing it. I wouldn't just because I know I would be tugging at it all night making sure nothing was going to fall out.lol. But as long as you are comfortable wearing it, it should be fine. I am contemplating wearing nice flats or not..kind of lame but I hate standing in heels..how can I have fun when my feet hurt? lol. anyway, I think one inch heals will be fine.
