Help i have a 2month old puppy need advice on how to potty training him?

ive never had a puppy this youngHelp i have a 2month old puppy need advice on how to potty training him?
Right now at 8 weeks, your major concerns are going to be getting it to adjust away from its Mommy and litter mates,

Start his training by taking him outside frequently for potty and poop trips. put it on a regular feeding schedule as soon as he gets beyond eating soft puppy mush 3 - 4 times a day. Once in the morning, and once in the evening at regular times daily will help his system to regulate better than by leaving food down for it to eat anytime it chooses. If you do this, you can take it out about 30 min after eating (more or less as you watch its metabolism) and leave it out til it poops, Since it is so young, you'll have to walk if more frequently til it gets more control over its bladder and bowels. It will have to pee about 2 -3 times more often than it poops.

Crate training it is a must. Dogs, by instinct, don't like to soil what they consider their bedding area, so if you gradually increase its crate time, and walk it immediately afterward,, it should catch on soon enough. Be prepared for lots of poops and pee slips, but if you follow a consistent pattern, you should notice a regular pattern developing and should have a pretty well housebroken dog by 6 months. ( Wee pads don't work.- just resign yourself to cleanups while he's learning. Best of luckHelp i have a 2month old puppy need advice on how to potty training him?
Don't use puppy pads or newspaper. These just encourage the dog to potty inside. I like crate training. Keep a really close eye on your puppy and keep him in the same room as you so you can catch him when he goes to go potty. If you are busy put him on a leash and hold on to it. When you are gone put him in a puppy crate. The crate should be big enough for him to stand up and turn around but not big enough for him to roam from one end to the other. Dogs do not like to potty where they have to sleep so he will hold it while in the crate. Immediately after feeding or getting a drink bring your puppy outside with you on a leash (even if you have a fenced in yard). This allows you to offer immediate praise. When your puppy goes potty say ';go potty'; or whatever you want him to associate going potty with. If you want him to go in the same spot each time bring him back to that spot. If he doesn't go bring him back inside and try Again in about 5 or 10 minutes. I have used this method on all of my dogs and the longest it ever took me was 2 weeks.

**Never use the crate as a discipline source as your dog will associate the crate with being bad. Do not put your puppy's nose in his potty. If he does potty in the house and you catch him in the act tell him no pick him up and bring him outside. If you don't catch him in the act then you can't scold him because he won't know what he did wrong.
First, I would expect to have a lot of accidents in the house until he gets a little older. Dont expect too much of him just yet. This does not happen overnight and it takes lots of repetition and patience on your part.

Second, crate training would be best. Get a crate big enough for him to stand and turn around in, but no bigger since he will potty in it. Dogs will not potty where they lay. He should be taken out very frequently since he has not gained control of his bladder yet. Take out every hour or so. Start using a key word or phrase when you take him out like ';go potty';. After he eats, take him out immediately. Take a treat with you. Stay with him and if he potties outside, then given the treat and reward, reward, reward! Make it seem like he just saved the day. Whenever he is not in your supervision, he should be in his crate or confined to a room where he cannot inflict much if any damage. Watch his body language and that will begin to tell you when he needs to go (twisting, etc.). Pee pads are good too, but some prefer crating. I have found the crating method very effective.

There is a product on the market available through your vet called ';Pee Pee'; that you spray where you want him to...well...pee.

If you catch him going potty where he is not supposed to, promptly say ';NO!'; or ';AH AH!'; and take him outside, then reward. Teaching him to ring a bell or paw the door would be a good way to let you know when he has to go.

Good Luck!
We crate-trained our puppy. Basically they live in a small crate for a while and its like a den for them. Dogs keep their dens clean so they wont go to the bathroom in the crate. Of course take them out every couple hours to where you want them to go. They dont spend their entire lives in the crate either and once they're trained you can get rid of the crate or whatever. My dog never had accidents in the house with this method.

(Doggy pads just seem to train them to go on the floor...)
iv gone thru this with 5 pups already. the best thing like the others said is puppy pads. you can buy them at any store that sells dog supplies. make sure you keep the pad in one spot. moving it around too much will confuse the pup. and when he gets it down really good. you'll notice he will do something right be for he goes. pay close attention cause when you see him starting to go bring him outside. then he will know right be for he goes its time to go outside. I've done this to all my dogs. and all dogs do a little weird thing be for they go weather its going in circles or some weird move lol. and it helps to teach him to start going outside. its worked great with all my dogs.

oh and make sure you always bring him around the same spot he goes outside as the time befor. it will help him know his scent and know he needs to go there. and change your pads often. this will help when its time to switch outside faster. he wont always want to go on the pad.

-- to the answer right above me. its okay to use puppy pads. just dont make it a habit for along time. its better to use them when ur puppy is very small . and when ur pup is getting the peeing on the pad everytime down thats when u start switching to go outside. it might take a month or two. but they start understanding fast. and they will eventually start going to the door when they need to go. at first they might not make noise but when they figure it out they will to let you know.

if you wait til ur puppy is older and use puppy pads your dog will depend on them more which is not good. and thats when you will have mistakes all over ur house..
puppies like to pee and poop right after they drink and eat. so take it outside every time after do this.

additionally, if they pee in the house....pick him up and take it over to it. put its nose close to it, say ' no pottie in the house' and then take it outside, and say 'go pottie outside'

that's what i did. there is no need to use physical abuse on a puppy.
Get doggy pads so he can poop on them and pee on them. They sell them at pets mart. Once he starts pooping on that pad then start moving the pad closer and closer to the outdoor so he can know to poop outside. you can put a bell on the door and teach him to ring it when he wants to go.
well try puppy pads first then try putting your puppy outside till it uses the bathroom outside! but if these dont work email me!
with my puppy i just took her out every two hours no matter what for like a week and then she finally just learned thats where to go!
take it outside A LOT! Just watch him to make sure it doesn't get into anything it shouldn't be!
