I'm a tourist in the U.S. and I'm interested in buying two phones under contract from verizon wireless since unlocked phones in the U.S. are expensive, what i would like to know is: Do they charge you if you don't use the phone? does not paying the bill result in anything other than suspending the service? and can i leave the country with the phones still under contract?I Need a little advice on buying phones under contract. please help?
Verizon phones are CDMA, they aren't going to work most places outside the US.
If you buy with a contract you have to first pass a credit check, if you fail to pay your bill it will damage your credit score. This can raise almost any interest rate that you pay and even affect car insurance and such in the US.
Edit:
CDMA phones don't have sim cards. Most networks outside the the US do use them. Some phones like their Blackberry World Edition have both CDMA %26amp; GSM radios have a sim card slot and will work outside the US, but don't have the domestic (US 850/1900) bands.
